ASK 4-H Jackson County – Always Support Kids, Holds First Meeting
Thanks to the efforts of our Jackson County 4-H Volunteers, Ann Marie Shelton and Syntha Alvarez, the newest 4-H Club in Jackson County, ASK (Always Support Kids) 4-H Jackson County is off to a great start! This new 4-H Club is a supportive group of families and loved ones affected by autism and/or other developmental disabilities.
4-H is a perfect fit for a club with this type of focus because we offer all things 4-H in a way that best meets the needs and abilities of the youth and their families within a club environment.
On Thursday, September 15 the club held its first meeting in the Jackson County Conference Center on Penn Ave. with 10 participants.
While youth worked on ice-breakers (get to know you games), arts and crafts and storytelling with LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 with Ms. Shelton, parents met with Ms. Alvarez in an adjacent room.
Youth are encouraged to express themselves and explore whatever interests they have. Jackson County 4-H is excited at the possibilities that this type of club will offer to its members and families and is looking forward to a wonderful 4-H year!
