Jackson County 4-H Livestock Judging Team Competes at State

Jackson County 4-H Livestock Club’s Livestock Judging Team members, their parents and their coach, Brad Warden traveled to Gainesville on Friday, April 8 to compete in the State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest. It was a tight contest that included, for the first time ever, a tie for 1st place and a tie for 2nd place in team placings. The Jackson County 4-H Team placed 5th overall with a total team score of 1,657 and an individual average score of 46 out of 50 in each class and an average of 40 on oral reasons. Only one questions class kept them from finishing in the top two places.

Team members L-R: Nathalie Yoder, Savannah Capps, Coach Brad Warden, Raigan Tidwell, Bethany Sistrunk and Emilee Foran.

Their participation in this event comes after hundreds of hours of practice, hard work and dedication on behalf of the coach, Brad Warden and the youth. It also requires hundreds of dollars for registration fees and travel. All of which would not be possible were it not for fundraising and donations from wonderful organizations such as the Jackson County Cattleman’s Association.

Coach Brad Warden is already making plans for next year’s competition, so stay tuned for great things to come!
