Jackson County Cattlemen’s Association Will Host Educational Clinic
This is a reminder that the Jackson County Cattlemen’s Association will be providing free vaccinations for calves (steers and/or heifers) of 4-H and FFA exhibitors in the 2015 Panhandle Youth Expo and the 2016 Fed Cattle Show this Saturday morning, September 26th at the Jackson County Ag Center located on US Highway 90 in Marianna, Florida. Clinic start time is 8:30 am and will conclude by 10:00 am. Identification tags and/or tattoos, will be provided for any calves that need them and Dr. Kim of Panhandle Veterinary Services, will be available to write health papers for the upcoming show season. You are encouraged to arrive early to avoid unnecessary heat stress for your animals. A squeeze chute and scale will be set-up in the arena. Information regarding securing buyers for your 4-H project, record books, and animal nutrition will also be available. This will be the official weigh-in for all steers participating in the “Gain-in-Weight” competition of the 2016 Fed Cattle Show. The deadline for entry forms for the 2016 Fed Cattle Show to be turned in is September 26th. Exhibitors not participating in the clinic may submit Fed Cattle Show entries to the UF/IFAS Jackson County Extension office on or before September 25th.
Please contact Mr. Andy Andreasen at (850) 209-2690 or firstname.lastname@example.org with a count, the sex and approximate weight of animals that will be participating in the clinic by 8:00 am Tuesday, September 22, 2015, so that he will know how much vaccine and de-wormer will be needed. You may also contact the 4-H office at (850) 482-9620 with this information or if you have any questions.
*Note the deadline noted in the clinic registration is being waived.
