Jackson County 4-H hosted the 2015 District II 4-H Tropicana Speech Contest on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Jackson County Conference Center on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Competing for District honors were first place winners in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades, at their respective county level competitions in Bay, Holmes, Jackson and Walton counties. The winners received trophies, medals and gift cards, thanks to financial contributions from the Jackson and Walton County Kiwanis Clubs.

Representatives from the Three Lake DeFuniak Toastmasters served as judges and the Master of Ceremonies was Mr. Art Dees.

This event was a coordinated effort between District II 4-H Agents Dr. Paula Davis from Bay County, Mrs. Niki Crawson from Holmes County, Mrs. Angel Granger from Jackson County, Ms. Jena Brooks from Walton County, and Regional Specialized 4-H Agent Mrs. Heather Kent, from Jackson County. Jackson County support staff members Mrs. Lynn Nowling, Ms. Patti Peacock and Ms. Marilyn Lipford assisted as well.

We congratulate all of our participants for a job well done, and we thank all of the volunteers and parents for their support and encouragement that helped to make this event such a wonderful success. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition!
