The Chick Chain Has Arrived!

Jackson County 4-H members participating in the Chick Chain pilot program with Alabama 4-H received their chicks on Friday, May 15, 2015. Jackson County 4-H Agent Angel Granger and 4-H Volunteer Mrs. Anita Crossley, traveled to Ozark, Alabama to pick up 126 day-old chicks!

Each of the youth participating in the program picked 18 chicks from 3 different breeds to raise and learn to show. The program will run through October 3, 2015 at which time the youth will travel to Alabama to participate in a Poultry Show and Auction. The fee for this program was $50.00 per child. They will select three of their birds to show and auction off, and they are encouraged to solicit buyers for their birds for this auction.
