11th Annual Hillsborough 4-H Foundation Strawberry U-Pick

Join 4-H in the strawberry fields on Saturday, March 17th, 2018
Hillsborough 4-H Youth Foundation volunteers.

The Hillsborough 4-H Youth Foundation will host their 11th Annual Strawberry U-pick benefiting Hillsborough County 4-H Youth programs. For one day only, the public can pick their own strawberries for $.50 per quart. This is a wonderful family event and a great opportunity for kids to see where their food comes from. This annual event is made possible with the support of Fancy Farms. This year’s U-pick will be held at 3524 Futch Loop, Plant City, Florida on Saturday, March 17th from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. *Field location may change day of event*

For the past ten years, the Hillsborough 4-H Youth Foundation has supported Hillsborough 4-H youth programs by providing summer camp scholarships and college scholarships. In 2017, the Hillsborough 4-H Youth Foundation was able to provide over $10,000 in support to Hillsborough 4-H with opportunities for over 40 youth to attend summer programs and to celebrate 4-H youth accomplishments during the Annual 4-H banquet.

It’s more than a fundraiser…
A small portion of strawberries donated to area food banks in 2017.
On Target 4-H members pause for a group photo during strawberry picking for food banks.

its’ also a 4-H service project. During the annual u-pick, over 100 4-H members and parents “give hands to larger service” by picking strawberries for local area food banks. Over the last three years, 4-H members have picked an average of one ton of strawberries (2,000 pounds) for donation each year. Our 4-H clubs take pride in this service project and look forward to it each year. Last year, a 4-H club from Pasco County showed up to help pick for donation. This service opportunity is available to the public. When at the u-pick, ask us how you can help!

We hope to see you in the fields on Saturday, March 17th!
