4-H Open Enrollment

4-H Open Enrollment, Now Available!

When most people think about 4-H, they think “plows, cows, and sows”, but the truth is 4-H is so much more. 4-H is a youth development organization that focuses on teaching youth critical life skills. We use hands-on activities to engage youth and empower them to work hard to achieve their goals. The 4-H motto is “to make the best better” and that is just what we try to do in Highlands County. We offer a variety of projects in order to offer something for everyone. The new 4-H year begins on September 1, so sign up today!

The Highlands County 4-H program is deeply rooted in agriculture, but has expanded to offer non-traditional programs like shooting sports, robotics, healthy living, and atv safety. Whether you are interested in showing livestock, cooking, photography, or something else, we want you to join 4-H! The 4-H program is open to youth ages 5-18 (as of September 1 of the current school year). We offer community clubs, school clubs, special interest (SPIN) clubs, as well as day camps for youth to participate in.

SPIN Clubs

Traditional clubs meet once a month, while our SPIN clubs meet at various times. Some SPIN clubs are short-term and others meet all year long, focusing on a specific topic. Below is a list of our current SPIN clubs:

  • Shooting Sports
  • Highlands Youth Citrus Program (HYCP)
  • All About Pigs
  • Robotics
