FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION PROGRAM

The 2018 Tax Filing Season Begins in January, 2018. Income Tax Returns will be due on April 16, 2018.

The 2018 Income Tax season will officially begin in January of 2018. UF/IFAS Extension offers free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) at participating locations. IRS-Certified tax preparers help taxpayers like you file your taxes quickly and easily through video conferencing technology. We will help you get the full refund you earned. Once your tax return has been completed, the VITA volunteers will file your taxes instantly, and you will receive your refund through direct deposit.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program provides free tax preparation services for citizens in both urban and non-urban locations. This includes low-to-moderate income individuals, persons with disabilities, and the elderly and limited English speaking.

VITA appointments will be schedules starting in January of 2018. Please call the Gadsden County Extension at (850) 875-7255 to schedule a VITA appointment. Starting January 26th, 2018, Gadsden County Extension will schedule VITA Income Tax Assistance Appointments. Here is a list of the documents that you will need to bring with you on your appointment date:

  • Two forms of photo identification for all adults. If married and filling a join tax return, both spouses must be present to sign forms.
  • Social Security cards for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return. This includes a Social Security number verification letter, or ITIN Letter.
  • Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return
  • All relevant paperwork/documentation
