FRE Student’s Research on Economic Impact of Florida’s Waterways

Fei He and a county extension agent discussing Fei’s fact sheets

In 2018, FRE Ph.D. student, Fei He was awarded a Thompson Earth Systems Institute (TESI) Grant to support her project, “Water resources and human society: educating Floridians about the value of water resources”. Since then, Fei has been hard at work researching the economic benefits of Florida’s waterways.

With this grant, she has created 5 fact sheets that have been distributed in all counties in Florida through the IFAS extension offices. The fact sheets give a visual representation of the economic impact of Florida’s waters, with the goal of making audiences aware of how necessary it is that we protect our natural resources.

I encourage you to check out the Florida Museum’s full blog article about Fei and her project. You can find the article and Fei’s fact sheets here.
