The UF/IFAS Wakulla Extension welcomes Haley Bare as the new 4-H Program Assistant.  Bare will work with 4-H Agent Dr. Rachel Pienta and serve as the site leader for the Panacea 4-H After School Program and the 4-H Summer Day Camp Program in Crawfordville.  Wakulla County Extension Director Dr. Pat Williams said, “We are excited about these new opportunities to positively impact the youth of Wakulla County and know that Haley’s experience and enthusiasm will be greatly appreciated by all.”

Bare is a graduate of Florida State University.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Sciences, with a Minor in Education.  Bare’s prior professional experience includes working with school age youth at Easterseals Summer Camp and early childhood populations at daycare facilities.  Bare said, “I am very excited to work with Wakulla County government and UF/IFAS Extension.  I cannot wait to begin working with and seeing kids everyday as I watch them grow and learn new skills they will be able to use for the rest of their lives.”

Registration to enroll in the Panacea 4-H After School program will begin February 1, 2021.  The program resumes operation with a Monday through Thursday schedule on March 1, 2021.  Summer camp registration opens March 1 and will remain open through the summer on a space available basis.  The summer day camp program begins June 7, 2021 with a Monday through Thursday schedule until August 5, 2021.

Both the summer and day camp programs will serve grades K-8.  After school and day camp participants will be engaged in hands-on activities and projects in areas that include health, science, agriculture, arts, and civic engagement.  The program is based on positive youth development.  Volunteer opportunities will be available for high school age youth to earn Bright Futures service hours.

4-H agent Dr. Rachel Pienta expressed excitement about her new colleague, “Haley brings fresh ideas and great energy to the team. I am excited about having a new partner to collaborate with to bring new 4-H experiences to Wakulla youth!”
