You're Invited to a Community Forum Tuesday, Oct. 16

The Healthy Gulf Healthy Communities Team has invited everyone in the Franklin County community to attend a Community Forum on Tuesday, October 16th. This meeting will serve as a continuation of the October 9th Franklin County community listening session and the October 10th Oyster Recovery Team meeting.

During these sessions, community members described their current efforts in the Seafood Management Assistance Recovery Team (SMART), a representative stakeholder body with a long-term focus on sustainably managing the bay’s resources. This forum will aim to support this collaborative effort by bringing community members, members of the Healthy Gulf Healthy Communities team and members of the UF Oyster Recovery Team together to discuss potential solutions and action plans to address the challenges of the oyster decline.

The sessions will focus on stakeholder input regarding the future direction of the SMART initiative.

The two sessions will take place in Apalachicola in the Apalachicola Community Center. There will be two separate sessions to accommodate individual’s different schedules. The first session will be held at 2:00-4:30 pm, and the second session will be held from 5:00-7:30 pm. Food will be provided at both sessions.

To RSVP, simply send an email to Erica Odera at ericalin@ufl.edu stating that you are planning on attending, and please mention which of the two sessions you will be attending. For additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Angie Lindsey at 904-509-3518 or ablindsey@ufl.edu. We look forward to seeing you on October 16th!
