Living with Bears
The American black bear is the most widely distributed bear in North America. Human encroachment, deforestation and development of prime bear habitat have resulted in a significant decline in the distribution of black bears in North America. In Florida, this rapid conversion of bear habitat has resulted in increasing sightings of and encounters with bears in residential areas, including in Flagler County. Janelle Mosser from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will talk about black bear biology and ways people can reduce the chance of bear encounters in residential areas. This presentation will be at the UF/IFAS Extension Flagler County Office. The workshop is free, but pre-registration is requested. Call 386-437-7464 or register online.
