Agritourism Workshop on April 12-13

Have you ever thought about sharing your unique agricultural experiences with local consumers?  Consumers want to meet REAL farmers and understand where and how their food is grown.  The two-day Agritourism Workshop will equip you with practical ideas, local success stories and opportunities, and a toolkit to get you started.  Join us for one OR two days (separate registrations), depending on your level of interest.

Friday, April 12 – Agritourism Opportunites for Local Farmers

fresh cut vegetables at a stand Local farmers in the Tri-County Agricultural Area will share their successes and challenges with agritourism.  Participating farmers include Jenny Cowart from Wagon Tails Ranch Rides, Kelly Mosley from Amazing Grace Corn Maze, and Tommy Clay from Clay Ranch Blueberry U-Pick.  Chef David Bearl and his team will prepare a fresh farm-to-table luncheon at the Hastings Agriculture Extension Center using local produce.  Ecotourism Authority Herb Hiller and friends will lead a tour through the downtown Hastings revitalization projects and highlight new opportunities with the opening of the bike trail.  Registration is required:

Saturday, April 13 – Agritourism in Action for Cycle Enthusiasts

Man on bike in front of potato fieldBring your own bike and join us on a bike ride through local agricultural activities in action including cabbage harvest, potato trials and citrus groves that have persevered through the greening disease.  Pre-registration is required and a map of the route is attached.
