Another Advisory Issued for Bayou Texar

Not all stations reported this week – but that is to be expected this time of year. That said there is a health advisory issued for Bayou Texar this week.

RED TIDE

Background levels of Karenia brevis did show up in a couple of samples Bay and Gulf counties in the panhandle – but they are low background levels. Nothing from Escambia and Santa Rosa. It still persist in SW Florida.

 

FISH KILLS for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties

There are no reports of fish kills this month.

 

HEALTH ADVISORIES

There was a health advisory issued for Bayou Texar – ENT = 72

Samples were not collected in Bayou’s Chico and Grande

Perdido Bay is fine

 

WATER TEMPERATURES

All waters are running between 50-59°F except lower Perdido who reported 49°F

 

SALINITY

Salinities continue to run low for most water bodies but there has been a slight increase. Moving towards normal again.

 

DISSOLVED OXYGEN

All good. Numbers coming in between 9.0 – 10.0 mg/L

 

NUTRIENTS

No updates on nutrients this week. You can read about nutrients from 2015 from local waters in the 2015 Water Quality Report. Again, just let me know if you would like a copy. Roc1@ufl.edu
