Lionfish Sighting Verified on Pensacola Beach

Bryan Clark of the Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition and Coast Watch Alliance verified a sighting of a lionfish in our inshore waters. The lionfish was seen, and photographed, at the snorkel reef at Park East this week. Escambia County and Sea Grant continue to monitor our inshore reefs and other structures for lionfish. If you are snorkeling one of these along our beach and see a lionfish please photograph (if possible) for verification and/or contact Sea Grant Agent Rick O’Connor at 475-5230 or roc1@ufl.edu.
