2014 Youth Speech Contest Sponsored by Farm Bureau

The Escambia County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, in collaboration with UF IFAS Extension Escambia County Extension, EscaRosa Young Farmers and Ranchers, and the Escambia County Women’s Committee will hold the 2014 Escambia County Youth Farm Bureau Speech contest on Thursday, September 4 at 4:00 pm. The contest will be held at the Farm Bureau Building at 153 Highway 97, Molino, FL. The topic of this year’s speech is “Food security is an important issue to the people of the United States. How can Florida Agriculture continue to provide quality solutions for the future?

Competitors must be at least 14 years of age and not over 18 years of age on or before September 19, 2014 and be a resident of the county they are representing. Previous state winners are not eligible to compete again. The competitor must prepare and present the speech personally. No form of video conferencing will be permitted. The competitor is not permitted to use any visual aids such as a PowerPoint presentation or poster. Speeches must be 5 minutes in length +/- 30 seconds. Short/long speeches will face point deductions. Judges reserve the right to ask questions at the district and state levels, not to exceed 3 minutes per competitor. If the Escambia County contestant wins district, Escambia County Farm Bureau will also help defray the cost to attend the state meeting for competition.
