FWC Makes a Few Rule Changes Pertaining to the Collection of Lionfish

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced yesterday changes in the management of the lionfish in Florida. Beginning August 1, 2014 it will be illegal to import lionfish into the state of Florida, the collecting of lionfish using re-breathers will now be allowed, and you will now be allowed to spear for lionfish in state waters where spearfishing is prohibited. However spearing in these prohibited waters will only be allowed during a removal event and a permit will be required. You can read more about these changes by going to www.MyFWC.com
