Duval County Extension Reopens with Guidelines for Safety

Our UF/IFAS Extension Duval County Extension office opens to visitors by appointment only today, Monday, June 8th, upon direction of the City of Jacksonville, in partnership with guidelines of the University of Florida. Appointments can be made by calling our office at (904) 255-7450 or emailing the extension agent you would like to reach. Until now, agents have been working through the closure by offering virtual programming and corresponding by email and phone. Please be patient as we continue to phase into full operations and staffing, at which point the University discontinues limited operations.

In preparation for guests, we had a soft-opening to display safety protocols and guidelines, sanitize the common areas, and determine best practices to reduce exposure. We will continue to share updates through the UF/IFAS Blogs, our Extension Connections newsletter, and stakeholder groups.

When you have an appointment to visit the office, we ask that you arrive with a face covering. You will be screened by taking your temperature with a touchless thermometer and asked to complete a brief form about possible exposure. Hand sanitizer is available, if needed. We also ask that you maintain a minimum of 6-foot distance when meeting anyone.

The University asks that we still prioritize virtual meetings and programming. However, there are some instances for which in-person occasions are required, such as pesticide applicator exams or exchange of materials. We have protocols for those situations, so please call ahead to make arrangements.

As prior to COVID-19, we will continue usual business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
