4-H Summer Camping Reflections

Duval 4-H Summer Camping

As the 2018 Duval 4-H summer season comes to an end we wanted to take a moment and reflect on our experiences. The ACA (American Camping Association) has created a list that outlines the benefits and outcomes of youth participating in a summer camping program. They are listed next…

Benefits and Anticipated Outcomes of the Camp Experience

Social Skills Development

  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Participation

Self-Respect and Character Building

  • Responsibility
  • Resourcefulness
  • Resilience

Community Living/Service Skills

  • Caring
  • Fairness
  • Citizenship
  • Trustworthiness

In the Duval County 4-H camping program, we hope to inspire and instill all of the above skills in the youth that join us for our camping programs. Duval 4-H takes pride and goes to great length to ensure our programs are not only fun and engaging but educational and provides experiences that allows youth to grow and develop. Summer 2018 ends with eight completed summer day camps, one residential camping week, and two teen leadership over-night programs. Over 200 youth were impacted and walked away with summer experiences and friendships that can last a lifetime.

Thank you to our summer counselors, volunteers, youth, and families that joined us this summer. We hope you have a great school year and join us for our 2018-2019 4-H year! See you all during the 2019 4-H summer!
