Jamie Burrow is an Extension Program Manager with UF/IFAS CREC. Often times when asked what she does for a job, she gets a few puzzled looks. She tells them it’s not a traditional job most people think about such as a teacher, doctor, lawyer or law enforcement. It is job that is unique and fits her personality. As Jamie explains it, it takes the responsibility of a teacher who’s job is to educate others and then take the job of a public relations specialist who’s job is to create an awareness and put them together. Her primary responsibility is to assist faculty in providing their latest research information to the clientele. It is an enjoyable opportunity to think of new ways to present information, create educational materials, and plan for events. Two of her favorite tasks are teaching others and creating educational documents. It may not be a traditional job most people think of but she loves it!

Jamie is a sixth generation Floridian who grew up in a small citrus and cattle family. She chose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in citrus and two weeks after graduating began a career at the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center. Her love for citrus blossomed even further as she began to work with citrus growers. She furthered her career in Extension and obtained a Masters of Agriculture with a specialization in Extension education. She has gained experience in Extension that has taken her many places throughout the United States and into South America. Through these experiences, she developed her my passion for helping others in agriculture. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Florida.
