On May 21, 2019, the 4-H Tropicana Public Speaking Contest Winners Recognized by the Brevard County, Board of County Commissioners.

The 4-H/Tropicana Public Speaking Program is sponsored by 4-H and Tropicana. 4-H and Tropicana both maintain public speaking, especially when learned at an early age, is an invaluable skill that will benefit youth throughout their lives. When youth learn to speak in public, they improve their listening and writing skills, and build their self-confidence.

4-H is a life skills development program where youth learn leadership, citizenship, and teamwork skills through hands-on learning opportunities, events, and activities. Sponsored by UF/IFAS Extension Brevard County, 4-H maintains community clubs, after-school clubs, summer camps, and school enrichment activities, all to benefit youth.

In the 2018-19 school year 9 schools with 33 classrooms and 578 students participated in this school enrichment activity. On May 7th the school finalists competed for the top award for 4th and 5th grade, and 6th grade. The winners selected included 4th / 5th Grade Competition: Aaron Gordon, R.L. Stevenson Elementary, with “The Weather” (Teacher, Cindy Vanderpool) and 6th Grade Competition: Zaul Cespedes, Palm Bay Elementary, with “Technology” (Teacher, Barbi Miller)
