UF Equine Research Program

Equine Research Program

The UF Large Animal Hospital is seeking a part-time OPS employee for the Equine Research Program (“ERP”).  ERP is responsible for housing and care of all large research animals on the Vet Med campus.
Primary duties are providing equine and other large animal care; including but not limited to routine feeding and watering, cleaning stalls, pasture maintenance (mowing and weedeating), minor medical care and assisting investigators with their animals.  Attention to detail and timeliness are of the utmost importance in this position, as ~50 horses are waiting on you for their breakfast!  The fun part is that you get to enjoy the outside and we have a great team of employees that have a fun time working together.
Schedule will include working weekends (flexibility for occasional weekends off but you MUST be willing to work most weekends) and half or full weekdays.  Weekday work is much more flexible on scheduling and can be arranged around class schedules.  Total working hours per week can vary to accommodate your schedule – but we will have to accommodate student employee working hour limits for the academic term. An ideal candidate would be interested in 16-24 hours/week – but we can be flexible!
Position reports to Dane Anderson, ERP Farm Manager, and indirectly reports to me as the ERP Director.  We are looking for someone who is able to start work soon and continue with us through at least the summer, though longer would be great!
To apply, please send a resume/CV via email to danderson81@ufl.eduor drop your paper resume in my mailbox in LACS.  Please contact  Dr. Martha Mallicote with any questions: mallicotem@ufl.edu
