Dairy Nutrition & Management Consulting is pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the Dairy Summit Student Essay Contest.
The winner of this contest will earn a $500 cash award and be awarded a fully-paid trip to the DNMC Dairy Summit meeting to be held in late July – early August in Colorado.The student will have a spot on the program to present their winning essay. The student’s professor will also be offered a complimentary conference registration and is strongly encouraged to attend.
Two runners-up will also be recognized at the meeting, each receiving a $200 cash award. Both runner-ups will be required to send a poster of their winning essay.
All essays accepted for submission will be included in a bound volume to be provided to all conference attendees. This compilation of essays will be a way for contestants to present themselves to as many as 20 western US dairy producers and 12 sponsoring companies for potential future employment opportunities.
The objective of the essay is to clearly define a problem or issue in today’s dairy industry and details of how the student’s educational plans or career plans may be able to offer solutions to solve the problem or address the issue.
The essay should be two pages maximum
The essay should not be a resume or personal story of the student
The essay will be scored on a rubric that focuses on the clear statement of a problem/issue and how it will be addressed by the student
Writing skills and overall professionalism of the essay will be included in the rubric
This contest is open to college seniors and master’s degree candidates.Student’s designated as seniors for the Fall 2017 semester will be considered. Graduate students also need to be enrolled as a student for the Fall 2017 semester.
