Publix Supermarkets are seeking Summer 2017 interns, including a Meat Business Unit Intern. Publix Summer Internships will occur from May 22 – August 4, 2017 at company facilities in Lakeland, Florida.
Interns are offered competitive pay and are generally expected to work 40 hours per week, although this varies by department. We partner with Florida Southern College to provide housing for our out-of-town interns.
As an intern, students will attend luncheons with Publix executives, participate in a local community service event, enjoy after-work socials, receive performance evaluations twice during the summer to evaluate your progress, and give an end-of-summer presentation to a large group of Publix leaders.
Primary Responsibilities for Meat Business Unit Intern Position includes:
Assisting Technical Specialist on SAVE Remodels, photo shoots and internal projects
Working closely with Publix Fresh Meat sustainability program
Assisting in developing programs that support Publix standards
Assisting Technical Specialist in reviewing and creating Reference Guides supporting quality and safety standards and workflow efficiencies
Working with Quality Specialist on receiving products meeting Publix Meat specifications
Required Qualifications for Meat Business Unit Intern Applicants:
At least 18 years of age and have a current driver’s license
Rising Junior pursuing a degree in Animal Science
Knowledge or course work in sustainability issues, microbiology, and business acumen
Basic knowledge of Access
Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet/E-mail
