Agricultural Entrepreneurship

If you are interested in further developing your entrepreneurial skills for your agricultural business, we will be offering a series of workshops for potential and beginner farmers related to agricultural entrepreneurship. You are encouraged to attend one or more events to get the most out of the content of the workshops. You can register for one or all workshops HERE. Ag Series

Workshop 1: Starting a Farm 
Online access: August 14th to 27th 2020. Live Webinar: August 28th, 2020

Articulate your vision and goals; assess your resources; evaluate the suitability and feasibility of farm enterprises; and learn about business structures, registration, and regulations. Register by August 14th

Workshop 2: Farm Business Planning
Online access: August 28th to September 10th, 2020. Live Webinar: September 11th, 2020

Conduct market research and a SWOT analysis. Develop a mission statement, marketing plan, operations plan, human resource plan, financial plan, and risk management plan. Register by August 28th

Workshop 3: Marketing for your small farm
Online access: September 11th to 24th, 2020. Live Webinar: September 25th, 2020, 10 AM – 12 PM.

Define a marketing strategy and competitive advantage, create promotional support, evaluate pros and cons of different types of market channels, take orders and accept payment online, selling through CSAs, farmers’ markets, roadside stands, u-pick/agritourism, farm-to-school, and wholesale. Register by September 11th

These classes are offered in a partnership between UF/IFAS Extension, Farm Credit, and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
