Florida Agriculture Network – October Meeting
The Florida Agriculture Network (FAN) is a farmer-to-farmer network for all counties in the North-Central Florida area. Professionals at UF/IFAS Extension collaborate in the organization of the meetings which are centered on a specific topic farmers want to know more about. This network was created in response to many surveys from the Small Farms Conference in which farmers requested the creation of farmer-to-farmer networks.
Our next event is being hosted by FAN members Leela & Michael Robinson at Deep Spring Farm (Where Earth Friendly & People Friendly Practices are One) in Alachua. Enjoy some refreshments and come to learn about agritourism considerations for your farm or wild lands at this serene setting. If you currently have or are thinking about farms stands, farm tours, corn mazes, u-picks…this program is for you!.
Meeting at a glance:
- Explore agritourism/eco-tourism options as a business opportunity for farmers who want to learn more about it.
- Learn the pros and cons of agritourism, how a farm can become a destination for agritourism, and how to collaborate with other farmers involved with this topic to offer a complete experience.
- Speakers include Dr. Katie Stofer from UF/IFAS, Florida Agriculture Tourism Association (FATA), Florida Organic Growers (FOG) and local farmers involved with agritourism to answer your questions.
- Take advantage of this opportunity and network with other farmers!
We want farmers to understand the opportunities, challenges & liabilities associated with agritourism/ecotourism.
